Parents should always have a role in their children’s education – make your voice heard!

Wentzville School District will hold an At-Large School Board election for three seats on April 4, 2023. Voters will choose between Renee Henke, David Lewis, Brad Welsh, David Biesenthal, Jen Olson, and John Kaelin*. Voters can choose three candidates on the ballot.
*John Kaelin withdrew from the race, but will still be listed on the ballot.

CANDIDATES

Henke challenged the school board’s decision to keep a book in the Wentzville School Library that contained “foul language and a depiction of rape.”

 

Henke worked with other local parents to develop a website with “helpful information regarding bullying.”

 

Henke believes school closures during the pandemic had an immense negative impact on children and their education.

Lewis criticized “woke-ism” in education.

 

Lewis supports adjusting the school curriculum, and protecting children from bullying.

Welsh advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion programming for students to “create inherent equity with their peers.”

 

Welsh supports academic achievement through strategic planning.

Brad Welsh is a former English teacher and has worked in sales for over fifteen years.

Biesenthal pledged to “be a voice for the teachers.”

 

Biesenthal wants to bring his experiences as an educator to the school board’s decision making process.

Olson wants to eliminate ideological manipulation in curriculum.

 

Olson believes in respecting the authority of parents in their children’s lives.

 

Olson criticized “government overreach” for degrading the educational system.

Kaelin supports diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in schools.


Kaelin participated in a candidate forum with the Missouri Equity Education Partnership, which promotes “anti-racist and anti-bias approaches to education.”


Kaelin supports student-led “banned book clubs.”
